Hello everyone, welcome back to the world of AI! In today's video, I, Ben Mellor, will be introducing you to Auto GPT, an autonomous experiment utilizing the advanced capabilities of GPT-4, the latest iteration of the generative pre-trained Transformer developed by OpenAI.

Auto GPT is a groundbreaking example of how GPT-4 can be harnessed to create autonomous systems capable of achieving any given goals. Throughout this video, I will show you how to install Auto GPT on your local desktop and how to utilize it to autonomously create and accomplish various tasks to assist you in your day-to-day activities.

Now, if you haven't watched my previous video on Auto GPT, I suggest you do so. In that video, I provided a demonstration and delved deeper into the analysis of the application. Auto GPT fundamentally relies on the powerful language processing capabilities of GPT-4. This model is trained on an extensive corpus of text data, enabling it to understand and generate human-like languages, a feature we will explore further.

One of the notable features of Auto GPT is its internet access for searches and information gathering. It essentially sources data from the web to collect insights and formulate tasks and objectives. Furthermore, Auto GPT boasts long-term and short-term memory management. It employs GPT-4 instances for text generation, leveraging the capabilities of the language model.

Another essential feature of Auto GPT is its access to popular websites and platforms. This feature correlates with the ability to gather information from the internet. Additionally, the application incorporates file storage and summarization capabilities, utilizing GPT-3.5. These key features collectively enable the system to operate autonomously.

Auto GPT utilizes a combination of GPT-4 and GPT-3.5, chaining them together to generate thoughts and utilize language models effectively to accomplish specific goals. These language models are trained on specific tasks like image recognition or natural language understanding. They can be sequenced to perform more complex tasks. As Auto GPT continues to evolve, we can expect even more innovative applications to enhance its capabilities.

Now, let's move on to the installation process. First, you will need to have Python installed on your machine. Make sure it's compatible with your processor. Next, you'll need Visual Studio Code, which can be downloaded for your respective platform. Lastly, create a Pinecone account. It's free and will play a crucial role in the setup. I will explain more about Pinecone later in the video.

To begin the installation, open the Command Prompt (CMD) as an administrator. Then, paste the provided link into CMD. This will clone the Git repository to your desktop. Navigate to the Auto GPT folder by using the command “CD autoGPT.” Finally, copy and paste the code provided in the description into CMD. This will install the necessary files and requirements for Auto GPT. Once the installation process is complete, we can move on to the next step.

After the Command Prompt finishes executing, open your preferred code editor. I personally recommend Visual Studio Code. Rename the file in the Auto GPT folder by removing “template” from its name. Make sure to run the application as an administrator to ensure smooth functioning. However, please exercise caution during this step as there is a potential risk of data leaks.

Now, input your API key, which can be obtained from OpenAI. Ensure that you keep your API key secure and avoid sharing it publicly. Once you have the API key, go to Pinecone and navigate to the API keys section. Copy the link value and paste it into the corresponding field in your Auto GPT application. Additionally, input your region by copying the environment and pasting it in the designated region field. Save the changes.

Next, go to the “Scripts” folder and open “main.py.” Click the play button to initiate the application. At this stage, the application will prompt you with a message asking if you would like to return to being “entrepreneur.gbt.” You can provide any name you prefer. I chose “entrepreneur GPT” and assigned it the role of an AI designed to autonomously develop and run businesses with the goal of increasing your net worth.

The system requires three inputs: objective, role, and goal. These inputs contribute to achieving your overall objective autonomously. I set the goal as “increased net worth,” but you can define different goals to aid in achieving the objective. Confirm your decision to continue.

The application will begin thinking by scanning the web to gather information necessary for generating responses. More information on this process can be found in my detailed video on Auto GPT. I highly recommend subscribing to my channel for an in-depth understanding.

Unfortunately, it seems that my API key has reached its limit, preventing me from showing more of the demo. However, you can visit the GitHub page for Auto GPT, where you will find a demo showcasing various tasks that the application can perform. Despite not being able to demonstrate them, the demo illustrates how the system scales and fulfills tasks by sourcing information from datasets and the web.
